How do I host a static HTML website for free?
Create a free account, choose Full site for a ZIP export or Microsite for one standalone HTML file, then upload from your dashboard. Your site goes live in under two minutes at a free yourname.makemysitelive.com subdomain. No servers, no build step, no credit card.
Do I get a free SSL certificate?
Yes. Every site (free or paid, on a subdomain or a custom domain) gets HTTPS automatically. There is nothing to configure and no extra charge.
Can I connect my own custom domain?
Yes. On a Pro site you can point your own domain with one DNS record, and we issue and renew the SSL certificate automatically.
How does pricing work?
Pricing is per Pro site. Every account gets one permanent free full site, and you can buy exactly the number of additional Pro-site slots you need. Microsites are unlimited for normal use, with fair-use protection for unusual activity. Pro sites can use a domain you already own. Domain names are bought separately, from any domain seller. Prices are shown in USD everywhere.
Can I roll back to a previous version of my site?
Yes. Every upload creates a new immutable version. You can go back to any saved version with one click from the dashboard. Free sites keep the last 3 versions and Pro sites keep the last 10.
Does my URL change when I update my site?
No. Republishing keeps the same subdomain and URL, so only the site content changes. Rolling back to an older version doesn't change the URL either, so it's safe to share your link before the site is finished.
What can I upload, and is there a size limit?
For full sites, upload any static ZIP: hand-written HTML or the build output of frameworks like React, Vue, Astro, or Hugo, with an index.html. Each full site includes 50 MB of storage. For microsites, upload one .html or .htm file up to 3 MB.
Will my site show up on Google?
Full sites can. On a new free account, full sites are hidden from Google for the first 7 days while we check for spam. With Pro, they can show up as soon as they are live, and each Pro site has a switch to hide it. Microsites are never listed, and neither is a site waiting for a quick check or protected by a password. Google decides when to list a page, so we cannot promise a date.
What is the difference between full sites and microsites?
Full sites are complete website ZIPs with assets, folders, and multiple pages. Microsites are unlimited single HTML pages for quick landing pages, demos, announcements, waitlists, and experiments. Both get HTTPS, a subdomain, versions, and rollback.
Is there an API for deploying sites?
Yes. MakeMySiteLive has a public REST API with scoped API keys, so you can create sites, upload new versions, and manage domains programmatically, which is handy for CI/CD or scripts. Follow our REST API guide to go from an API key to a live deploy.

Do I have to republish after changing analytics or the WhatsApp button?
No. Growth tool settings apply to your live site as soon as you save. Your uploaded files and active version are untouched and no new version is created.
What happens to growth tools if a Pro site goes back to Free?
The WhatsApp button, connected analytics tools, and metadata overrides stop being applied straight away, but your saved settings are kept. If the site becomes Pro again they resume with the same values. Built-in page views keep working, because they are free on every tier.
